GATE 2014 Notification - New Information - Model - Online Application Requirements - Changes Made in GATE 2014


Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an all India examination administered and conducted jointly by the Indian Institute of Science and seven Indian Institutes of Technology that are listed below on behalf of the National Coordination Board - GATE, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India.

The GATE committee, which comprises of representatives from the administering institutes, is the sole authority for regulating the examination and declaring the results.

Male Candidates (General/OBC)       :Rs 1500
Women Candidates of any category  :Rs 750
Other Candidates (General/OBC)      :Rs 1500
SC / ST / PwD* Category Candidates:Rs 750

Eligibility:
            BE/B Tech/BS/MSc/MA/MCA/ Int ME, MTech/Int MSC, BS, MS   not after than 2014 PASSOUT. (current final year students & degree holders).

Structure:
            The GATE examination consists of a single paper of 3-hour duration that contains 65 questions carrying a maximum of 100 marks. The question paper will consist of both multiple choice questions (MCQ) and numerical answer type questions. Click here for the pattern of question papers. All the papers will contain few questions that test the General Aptitude (Language and Analytical Skills), apart from the core subject of the paper

NEW CHANGES IN GATE EXAMINATION:
            GATE 2014 examinations will be held during forenoon and afternoon sessions on alternate weekends (Saturday and Sunday) between 1st February 2014 and 2nd March 2014. Examination for some of the papers in GATE 2014 will be held in multiple sessions in ONLINE.

Downloadable Admit Card:
            Admit cards will NOT be sent by e-mail/post, they can ONLY be downloaded from the zonal GATE websites from 1st January 2014. The candidate has to bring the printed admit card to the test center along with at least one original (not photocopied / scanned copy) and valid (not expired) photo identification. It may be noted that one of the following photo identifications is ONLY permitted: Driving license, Passport, PAN Card, Voter ID, Aadhaar UID, College ID, Employee identification card, or a notarized affidavit with Photo, Signature, Date of Birth and Residential Address. The details of this ID proof have to be given while filling the online application.

Numerical Answer Type Questions:
            The question paper for GATE 2014 will consist of questions of both multiple-choice type and numerical answer type. For multiple choice type questions, candidates have to choose the answer from the given choices. Numerical answer type questions are not multiple-choice type; the candidates have to enter a number as the answer using a virtual keypad.


Before starting to apply,
·        Enroll your id & activate it.
·        Decide the paper & find its code,
·        Decide exam city
·        Take your valid id card which you should have during the examination.
·        Photograph in JPEG format on a standard 3.5 cm × 4.5 cm print (350 x 450 pixels) File size 5KB – 100KB
·        Signature scanned from a 7 × 2 cm box on an A4 white paper (420 x 120 pixels) to be uploaded. File size 5KB – 100KB
·        decide Payment options
·        Take required supporting documents.
